A second ArtWalk will take place on July 6 from 5-7pm, throughout the Village. www.explorepeninsula.com/plein-air-competition,
Plein air is a French expression referring to the process of painting in the open air. Peninsula's competition, which has drawn participants from around the country, invites artists of two-dimensional art medium to paint at selected sites in the Village of Peninsula, as well as locations along the Cuyahoga River. The decision to highlight the river this year is in commemoration of the massive Flood of 1913 that engulfed the Cuyahoga Valley and destroyed the Ohio and Erie Canal.
Artwork must be created on site in the true impromptu plein air style. The competition is open to artists 18 years of age and there is no limit on the number of pieces of artwork produced during the competition. However, only two pieces may be submitted for judging. Prizes will be awarded. Artwork created during the competition will be displayed at Peninsula Art Academy Gallery from Saturday, June 29 through Saturday, August 10, 2013, and will be for sale.
Registration for participants is now open and will continue through the end of the event. For more information visit www.explorepeninsula.com/plein-air-competition,
or contact Debra or Steve Bures at 330-657-2788.
CVNP encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. Managed by the National Park Service, CVNP combines cultural, historical, recreational, and natural activities in one setting. For more information visit www.nps.gov/cuva or call 330-657-2752.

If possible, think of 4-5 songs in advance that you would be willing to play/teach, and preferably, get the lyrics and chords for those songs in advance on to a flash drive to share with the others on our laptop projector. Lets have 1-2 songs each night that are not popular so we can learn new tunes (originals or lesser known quality songs). We hope to encourage different types of styles to broaden everyone's repertoire. Bring your own food and drinks, or something to share. Send us your email email to join the list for FolkNite.
