Russ feels that he did not choose to blow glass; glassblowing chose him. To Russ, forming hot glass is an extremely exciting, almost magical, experience in which a molten material is transformed into a delicate, precious object. Most of the time, hot glass has a mind of its own. The glass artist must develop the skills not only to shape the object but also to create one that is pleasing to the viewer.
